Sophomore Places 4th in State Track & Field Championship; Boys' Relay Teams Break School Records at Nationals
Eric Futch, Penn Wood High School sophomore and stand-out in the area of Track & Field, placed 4th in the 60 Meter Hurdles at the Pennsylvania Track & Field Coaches Association State Indoor Track & Field Championship at Penn State University on March 6, 2010.
At the National Scholastic Indoor Championships at The Armory Track & Field Center in New York, the Penn Wood Patriots Boys' 4x400-meter relay team of Eric Futch, Darris Smith (junior), Johnathon Stiles (sophomore), and Kyle Womack (senior) finished eighth in the nation, breaking the school record. Penn Wood's 4x200-meter relay team of Ronard Buabeng (senior), Eric Futch, Darris Smith, and Kyle Womack also broke Penn Wood's record. Darell Hill (junior) set a school record in the shot put competition with a 49 ft., 1 inch throw.
