PWHS Students Honored at Excellence in Youth Awards

The Delaware County Workforce Investment Board and Its Youth Council, in partnership with Delaware County Council, announced its Ninth Annual Excellence in Youth Award winners and Honorable Mention recipients at a ceremony held on April 14, 2010 at the Drexelbrook Conference Center.

Indigo Brunson, a tenth-grade student at the Penn Wood High School - Cypress Street Campus, is a 2010 Award Winner. She was one of two winners selected from 100 nominees in her division. The Youth Council selects students who demonstrate outstanding leadership and commitment to their community, serve as a role model and/or have succeeded in spite of difficult barriers or challenges. Indigo has a 4.0 GPA, is Student Council Treasurer, participates in the after-school tutoring program, and is an active member of the Penn Wood Literary Magazine. She plans to participate in Drexel University's Dual Enrollment Program. Indigo, who was nominated by Ms. Lisa Cinquino, her Guidance Counselor, received a plaque and a $100 gift card.

Charlie Hourn and Chinco Duo, both from Penn Wood High School - Green Avenue Campus, are Honorable Mention recipients.
